Construct Reliability and Convergent Validity Analyzer
Calculate average variance extracted (AVE) and composite reliability (coefficient omega) from factor loadings for reflective constructs.
Calculations remain in this browser. Enter only non-identifiable item labels and measurement-model results.

Scope
This calculator summarizes one user-entered reflective construct from standardized factor loadings. It calculates AVE and composite reliability (coefficient omega); it does not estimate a CFA, EFA, SEM, Cronbach’s alpha, confidence interval, discriminant-validity statistic, or model-fit index.
Formula
For standardized factor loadings λi, residual variance is θi = 1 − λi2. AVE = Σλi2 / (Σλi2 + Σθi) and omega = (Σλi)2 / ((Σλi)2 + Σθi).
Assumptions and limitations
- The entered loadings represent one reflective, essentially unidimensional/congeneric construct.
- Standardized loadings should come from an appropriate measurement model; this tool cannot assess whether that model was adequate.
- Mixed loading directions require substantive review, including confirmation of reverse scoring and construct orientation.
- Common AVE and omega thresholds are heuristic aids; they do not on their own establish reliability or validity.
- Cronbach’s alpha cannot be calculated from factor loadings alone because it requires inter-item covariance or correlation information.
- Confidence intervals for omega require raw-data resampling or an appropriate fitted-model method and are outside this version’s scope.
Validation
Version 1.0.0 reproduces the supplied workbook benchmarks: AVE 0.5489354 and omega 0.8537875 for the five-item example, and AVE 0.67640875 and omega 0.8930165 for a four-item example. Automated tests also verify invalid standardized inputs. Availability supports independent comparison and is not a regulatory validation claim.
Privacy
All calculations occur in browser memory. The application does not upload, transmit, or retain entered construct labels, loadings, or results. Do not enter identifiable or confidential information.
